CatchTunes Terms of Service
Effective date: November 1, 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
CatchTunes is a Discord app and a website with a dashboard at https://catchtunesbot.com, operated by Christopher A. Jones, an individual in Texas, USA ("we", "us"). These terms cover your use of the bot, its commands, the website and the dashboard (together, the "Service"). By adding the bot to a server, using any of its commands, linking a Spotify account, or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must also follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you link Spotify, Spotify's Terms of Use also apply. If these terms conflict with Discord's or Spotify's terms, theirs win.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old and old enough to use Discord in your country. If you add the bot to a server or change its settings, you confirm you have permission to manage that server.
3. What the Service does
The Service shows Spotify playlists and what members are listening to, turns song links into links for other music services, previews music links posted in a server, lets members suggest and vote on songs for a server playlist, keeps opt-in listening charts for a server, posts a track of the day, and runs a guess-the-song game. Server admins choose which features run in their server with /setup or the dashboard.
CatchTunes does not play, stream, download or store music. It shows information and links. Music opens in the music service you choose.
4. Spotify accounts
Linking Spotify is optional. When you link, you let CatchTunes read your playlists and what you are currently playing, and, for the server owner's account only, add voted-in songs to a playlist the owner picked. You can unlink at any time with /unlink, on the dashboard, or at spotify.com/account/apps.
Spotify limits how many accounts a small app can connect and which playlists it can read. Some features may not work for every account or playlist, and Spotify can change or end its API at any time. CatchTunes is not made, endorsed or supported by Spotify, Apple or Discord. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB. Apple Music is a trademark of Apple Inc.
5. Song suggestions, charts and games
- Suggestions you post are shown in the server with your name and can be added to the server's Spotify playlist if enough members vote for them.
- Charts only include members who chose to join with /charts optin. Your listening shows on that server's charts while you are opted in.
- Game points are for fun only. They have no cash value and cannot be traded or sold.
6. Your conduct
Do not use the Service to break the law or Discord's rules, harass others, spam, attempt to overload or attack the bot or website, reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows, scrape it, or get around its limits. Do not use song suggestions or the game to post hateful, sexual or otherwise harmful content.
7. Our rights
We may change, pause or stop any feature, limit use, and suspend or block any user or server that breaks these terms or puts the Service or other users at risk. We own the CatchTunes name, logo, code and content. You may not use our branding in a way that suggests we endorse you.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on Discord, Spotify and Odesli (song.link), and links to other music services such as Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer and SoundCloud. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their own terms apply when you use them.
9. Price
The Service is free. If we ever offer paid features, they will be sold through Discord's own app subscriptions, and we will not charge you without your clear consent.
10. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure or free of errors.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of US $50 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
You agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims that arise from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these terms.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in El Paso County, Texas, or in small claims court where eligible.
12. Changes and ending use
We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the website or in our support server. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new terms. You can stop using the Service at any time by removing the bot from your server, unlinking Spotify, and deleting your data with /deletemydata or on the dashboard.
